01 Oct Milestone wins Best Marketing Achievement at 2019 Australian Event Awards
Milestone was announced as the winner for Best Achievement in Marketing, Communication or Sponsorship for its work on Sydney SailGP in 2019 at the Australian Event Awards 2019.
Following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia, Milestone’s win has the weight of the industry behind it. Entries are judged on all aspects of the achievement including innovation, best practice and sustainability as well as the achievement’s contribution to events and the difficulties encountered in executing it. With only the top 5 submissions named as Finalist, this places Milestone at the top of their game – event marketing; and with the rest of the best in the country.
“SailGP is a revolutionary global spectacular that is redefining the sailing with cutting edge technology and awe inspiring athleticism. Together with Milestone Creative we brought thousands of spectators to the shores of the iconic Sydney Harbour for the first landmark event in the series. We are thrilled to be recognised by the Australia Event Awards”, commented SailGP Australian Event Director, Leah Trafford.
Milestone was engaged by SailGP as National Marketing Partner for the inaugural global event – the first of its kind – on Sydney Harbour, 15-16 February 2019. As National Marketing Partner, Milestone was responsible for delivering a fully integrated strategy and implementation including creative, media planning and buying, an intensive digital marketing campaign, alliance marketing, metro and residential campaigns and content creation. Milestone developed a four-tier strategy that created drama and excitement, developed new audiences, amplified content globally, and converted to sales.
The campaign distilled key messages and event details into language that represented SailGP’s fast-paced, high energy experiences. Milestone took a digital-first approach to the marketing campaign and developed alliances and an outreach program to Consulates targeting the countries participating in series one.
Milestone’s Director, Alana Hay was delighted with the announcement, commenting, “As award-winning experts in event marketing, Milestone’s campaign strategy, media planning, creative digital campaign, tactical placements and guidance undoubtedly provided excellent results for SailGP and provides an exemplary framework for event marketing in Australia. These results solidify our position as the country’s top performing marketing and creative agency exclusively for the event, tourism and arts sectors.”
This award adds to the swag of awards won by Milestone, including MEA’s National Awards for Event Marketing and Best Marketer (Alana Hay), SPICE100 Best Marketing & PR company; Finalist in the Business Champion Awards, the Local Business Awards, and Best Integrated Marketing Campaign at the Event Marketing Awards (APAC).’
Co-chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel Peter Rix AM said: “The Australian Events industry has been a world-leader for many years now and this year’s achievements demonstrate why. The skill, determination and innovation displayed by all the finalists is remarkable. They are to be congratulated for not being content to rest on their professional laurels, but for pushing the boundaries of achievement and looking for new and more spectacular ways to put on their respective shows.”
