National Art School (NAS) engaged Milestone to design and implement an online teaching portal for their Bachelor, Masters and Doctor of Fine Arts courses. Due to social distancing laws during the COVID-19 outbreak, the school required Milestone to develop the portal within a 10-day timeframe, from brief to completion.
Milestone designed the site with simple user experience and navigation in mind, then followed with page wireframes, design and layouts and developed the overall look and feel of the portal within the client’s branding, using their theme and page builder. This allows NAS staff to update and build future web pages within a simple WordPress setup they were familiar with.
The brief specified a practical UX student journey (User Experience) that allowed students to easily navigate and access subject content according to their course, year, semester, course subject and subject week. A responsive design that was compatible with all devices including desktop, mobile and tablet was also part of the brief.
| Design sitemap with page hierarchy that clearly displays the student journey, employing the ‘Nested pages’ plugin for page management and organisation.
| Design and submit 10 wireframe templates for client approval.
| Incorporating new website features including breadcrumbs and site navigation right-hand columns to assist with student navigation and ease-of-use.
| Embedded Vimeo lecture videos within subject week landing pages and in-built drop-down elements to easily organise page content.
| Build of over 700 unique portal web-pages.
| Training and portal handover to client for subject content load.
| On-going client portal support.

A huge thank you and congratulations for a job well done. I know how hard Chris and you worked on this to deliver an outcome within 10 days for NAS…We have ambitious aims to continue to grow our online learning offerings and look forward to working with you again.”
